Great Barrier Reef - Location

Great Barrier Reef widely acclaimed as one of world’s great natural treasures; and is one of the most complex and biodiverse natural systems on earth.The Great Barrier Reef is located off north-eastern Australia and is parallel to the coastline of the state of Queensland from Lady Elliot Island, up past the tip of Cape York. It is over 3000km long and around 65km wide in some places. The reef is between 15km to 150km off shore and is made up of over 3000 individual reef systems and coral cays.
